Happy National Poetry Writing Month, for the second time around!! I was obviously 8 days late in my greetings. A mile ahead of where I was last year, when I started NaPoWriMo, 22 days late! Yet, still not quite on point. I’d say that’s a clear demonstration that I am most definitely still a work in progress, while I am also, so much further along than I was a year ago. In all, we are still very much in midst of helping me to discover and redesign the most beautiful aspects of my soul.
This 2nd annual NaPoWriMo is as much about exploring the deepest depths of my soul, through my expansion of my own writing, words and form, as was last year. If not, more. I am also inviting you all to participate, again this year. Last year, there weren’t any souls brazen or influenced enough to JOIN the movement, by submitting your own NaPoWriMo poetry contributions. Perhaps, this year will be the change.
Without much ado, welcome to the official 2nd Annual NaPoWriMo Celebration!! You are invited to read, watch, write, speak and even if you dare, JOIN the celebrations!! Below, you will find a list of my “catch up” poems, from the past week of NaPoWriMo.
Every day from 4.9.15, until April 30, you can confidently expect to see at least one brand new poem from me (though, some may come later than others). Like fresh bread, baked daily, my daily poems will be my offering to you all of sacred “food for thought.” Use it at your will and leisure.
By the end of the month, I’ll have 30 bran spanking new poems… perhaps new material for my first book of poetry or spoken word LP… who knows?!! That’s the most exciting part. Not knowing what’s to come. And still doing it anyway. It’s a dream, really. The art of riding the perfect platform for expansion without limitations, at no cost and all gain.
Thus, I implore you all to JOIN the celebration!! Catch up on my poems from last year for a refresher, and the latest from this year for inspiration. Check out daily prompts from around the web. Look for poetry stanzas, painted in the images of your daily life. Free the song dying to be heard, from inside your heart. Whatever it be that might guide you to JOIN this challenge, the NaPoWriMo challenge, seek it, own it and honor it! You’ll be in debt to yourself forever after, if you choose to.
Anywho, if you haven’t noticed, I’m a bit naggy (if that’s a word, haha). Thus, I’m going to present my sales pitch to your spirit, to use this month as your platform toward freedom, every single day of the challenge.
Hence, I’ll politely warn those who don’t wanna feel the “pressure” to free yourself and your mind, on a daily basis, to forgo your subscription to EverythingShaquana this month. I’d definitely prefer to lose a few followers temporarily for a month, than to turn away supporters for forever and a day. So, proceed at your own caution.
Here’s the Challenge:
The Challenge: Will you join me? The challenge is simple: write one poem a day, or more, inspired by whatever comes to your heart, or daily prompts posted by me.
The Terms: Dare to feel. Dare to write. Dare to share. The terms of your participation in the celebrations is solely based on you.
You are invited to write one poem a day, which you can choose to keep private, to display to people you know and love, share on your own public platform, and/ or share on the EverythingShaquana Poetry platform.
Any brave souls that would like their poem posted on my blog, in celebration of National Poetry Writing Month, can send their poem into me, using the comment form on the JOIN the conversation page. For every day that poems are sent to me, one of the poems I post for the day will be a guest poem.
The Purpose: Free yourself. Speak your truth. Increase your inside. Decrease your outside. Find you. Discover you. Write you into existence.
Simple. Easy. Already done before. Write three word poems. Ten line poems. One page poems. In your head. On your hand. On a napkin. On paper. Out loud.
However, you need to get it out. Use NaPoWriMo to get it out. Just get it out.
I look forward to sharing with you all, the celebration of the music of poetry. This is going to be soooo much FUN!!!
